Middleton Rural Fire District Levy

After two failed permanent tax levy attempts, the Middleton Rural Fire District (MRFD) engaged Red Sky in June of 2010 to assist the District with creating awareness and educating residents about the need for renewing the existing, temporary levy set to expire on December 31, 2010. Red Sky created a strategic plan for MRFD that provided a roadmap for key messaging, educational efforts and how to engage the public through social media and other public involvement opportunities, including: a regular holiday breakfast, an open-house event, direct mail education pieces and local media coverage. Working in collaboration with MRFD employees and volunteers, Red Sky helped break a voter turnout record: Nearly 2,000 voters came to show support for the district, passing the levy with a 60 percent decision, enabling the MRFD to continue its existing level of vital community services and events. The passage of this temporary levy provided adequate funding for the district through December 31, 2012.
